Google App Engine – Lolcat and COBOL support

Google App Engine has been launched, first reviews have been posted, first test apps have been built. There is even a rant that Google is not reacting to the issues filed fast enough. Head off to the issue tracker and take a look at them. It is a good laugh and I certainly understand why so many issues don’t have a single comment.

So we have a cloud, we have python and we have DB access. People want MORE!

  • Please add Ruby support (2x)
  • Please add Perl support
  • Please add Java support
  • Please add Java or Groovy support
  • Please add Javascript support
  • Please add JVM support, not just Java
  • Please add C# support
  • Please add GWT support
  • Please add support for Common Lisp
  • Please add Spring Framework support
  • Please add Hibernate support
  • Please add Ramaze support
  • PHP support is a must (2x)
  • Add support for Erlang

Had I more time I would file the Please Add COBOL and LOLCAT issues. I would just love to see them in a cloud :)

I’m for the LOLCAT, because that should happen first before actual defects are resolved!

And I think you can count ruby like 8 times, because if Ramaze, Spring, GWT, JVM, Java, and Grails can work, so can ruby, theoretically. :)
